Attempted Coup d’État in Benin: Government Reports “Several Victims”

The announcement was made following an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers.

Early Sunday morning, violent clashes broke out between the mutineers and the Republican Guard at the residence of President Patrice Talon, resulting in victims on both sides.

Among them is the wife of the President’s military chief of staff, General Bertin Bada, who was fatally wounded a few hours earlier during another assault carried out by the mutineers.
