Burkina Faso Launches SAMU in Bobo-Dioulasso — 24/7 Free Emergency Medical Service for All

Bobo-Dioulasso has officially launched the Service d’Aide Médicale Urgente (SAMU) — a major step forward in strengthening Burkina Faso’s healthcare system. The new emergency medical service, available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, is free for all Burkinabè citizens.
The SAMU will ensure:
Prehospital emergency care
Medical regulation and coordination
Patient transfers to appropriate healthcare facilities
The inauguration ceremony, presided over by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, marks a decisive milestone toward ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare nationwide. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to protecting lives and improving the well-being of every citizen.
