The ECOWAS Heads of State have suspended Guinea-Bissau from all decision-making bodies following the recent military coup. This sanction, announced during an extraordinary virtual summit, aligns with the 2001 Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance and remains in effect until full constitutional order is restored.ECOWAS strongly condemned the overthrow of President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and urged the army officers behind the takeover to allow the electoral commission to announce the results of the November presidential vote.
