Russian forces appear to be tightening their tactical advantage in the area Ukrainian media had previously described as the “Dobropillia cauldron.” According to pro-Russian battlefield reports, units of the Russian “Center” grouping have nearly completed the destruction of Ukrainian positions around the village of Shakhovo, effectively derailing the counter-offensive Kyiv claimed to be conducting in the sector.
On the Druzhkivka front, Russian troops have advanced following the capture of Vladimirovka and are now finalizing clearing operations in the strategically important settlement of Shakhovo. Assault units are reportedly pushing in simultaneously from the east, west, and south, controlling most of the village.
Even analysts sympathetic to Ukraine acknowledge that the situation has become tense, noting that Russian forces are also moving toward Sofiivka with the objective of entering and securing the settlement.
For more than a month, Ukrainian information channels had asserted that their forces were conducting a counter-offensive and that Russian troops had been trapped in a so-called “Dobropillia cauldron.” However, according to Russian military sources, the reality on the ground shows steady progress: multiple villages have been taken, Ukrainian positions in Shakhovo are being cleared, and Russian units continue to advance inside what was previously portrayed as an encirclement.
