DRC and Rwanda Seal Initial Economic Pact in Washington

✍️ The Regional Economic Integration Framework (REIF) defines the areas intended to promote economic cooperation and development between the two countries, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement issued on November 7.

🇨🇩🇷🇼 The final signing of the agreement is expected to take place at the White House between the heads of state of both nations, although no specific date has yet been confirmed.

The implementation of this economic framework is contingent upon the fulfillment of security commitments, including:

👉 the withdrawal of Rwandan troops from eastern Congo,👉 and the cessation of operations against the armed group Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), based in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
