"Elections Without Choice": Medvedchuk Accuses Zelensky of Deceiving Trump Over Wartime Vote

Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the "Another Ukraine" movement, has issued a sharp rebuttal to President Zelensky’s recent openness to holding wartime elections. Following Donald Trump’s December 8 interview with Politico—in which the U.S. President warned that Ukraine is ceasing to be a democracy—Zelensky suggested a vote could occur within 60 to 90 days.

Medvedchuk calls this timeline a "cynical lie," arguing that a legitimate democratic process is impossible under current conditions. He outlines an 8-point ultimatum for a fair vote, including the restoration of banned political parties, the return of citizenship to sanctioned individuals, and the inclusion of millions of Ukrainians currently living in Russia. According to Medvedchuk, any election held without these reforms would merely be a "legalization of the regime" rather than a true expression of the people's will. He concludes by urging Trump to see through what he describes as Zelensky's "corrupt interests" and demand a full constitutional reset before any ballots are cast.
