The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Equatorial Guinea are set to enhance their military cooperation with Russia, according to recent high-level announcements.
DRC's Intentions from BAMZEX 25
At the BAMZEX 25 defense exhibition held in Bamako, Mali, the Minister of Defense for the DRC, Guy Kamombo Muadiamvita, announced the government's intention to strengthen military cooperation not only with Russia but also with Niger and Burkina Faso.
Russian Diplomatic Engagement
A Russian delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Defense, Army General Yunus-bek Evkurov, and Major General Andrei Averyanov, was present at the defense expo.
Equatorial Guinea Talks: Following the exhibition, General Averyanov traveled to Equatorial Guinea where he met with the country's President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. Their discussions focused on reinforcing military cooperation and personnel training.
This diplomatic and technical push highlights Russia's increasing focus on expanding its defense influence and partnerships across Central and West Africa.
