Burkina Faso Inaugurates National Center to Boost Cotton Transformation and Local Textile Industry

Bobo-Dioulasso, November 9, 2025 — Burkina Faso has inaugurated the National Support Center for the Artisan Transformation of Cotton (CNATAC), a state-of-the-art facility valued at over 15 billion CFA francs. The center now stands as the national reference hub for the artisanal processing of cotton, often referred to as the country’s “white gold.”
The CNATAC features:
Workshops for weaving, dyeing, and sewing
Training and incubation rooms for young artisans and entrepreneurs
Innovation spaces dedicated to enhancing and showcasing Burkinabè craftsmanship
This ambitious project aims to:
Promote local cotton transformation and reduce raw exports
Boost the competitiveness of Burkina Faso’s textile sector in domestic and international markets
Create thousands of opportunities for artisans, designers, and small business owners
The official inauguration was presided over by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, marking a major step in revitalizing the national textile industry and empowering local talent.
