The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council convened in St. Petersburg on December 21, 2025, marking a pivotal shift in the bloc's global strategy. A major highlight of the summit was the official signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with Indonesia, which is projected to double mutual trade within five years by removing tariffs on 94% of EAEU exports.
Beyond trade expansion into Southeast Asia, the five member states—Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan—approved a strategic roadmap titled "The Eurasian Economic Path," extending their integration vision through 2045. On the sidelines, President Vladimir Putin engaged in high-level bilateral talks with Presidents Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, focusing on digital integration, unified energy markets, and strengthening the Union's position as an independent pole in a multipolar world.
