🌍 Proposed "Great Atlantic Vertical" Alliance to Counter Sino-American Rivalry

In response to escalating Sino-American tensions, two geopolitical experts are advocating for the formation of an Eastern Atlantic Community, dubbed the "Great Atlantic Vertical." This ambitious project aims to prevent the marginalization of both Europe and Africa in the emerging global order.

The Rationale for the Alliance:

  • Risk of Marginalization: The experts warn that the return of high-intensity conflict and the dominant US-China rivalry pose serious risks of "downgrading and marginalization" for both continents.

  • European Vulnerability: Despite its economic strength, the European Union "struggles to assert itself as a strategic actor," evidenced by its difficulty in stopping the Ukraine war or achieving a unified stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

  • African Courtship: Africa is currently a battleground for influence, with China engaging in massive investment and the U.S. attempting to restore influence through development and security cooperation.

The proposed "Great Vertical" would leverage geographical proximity, economic and energy complementarity, and the necessity of pooling security and strategic capacities to establish a third, cooperative path along the Atlantic coasts of Europe and Africa, potentially redefining regional balances.
