An expanded meeting of the Presidential Council for the Support of the Russian Language was held in Moscow, focusing on the country’s long-term linguistic strategy. Participants reviewed the implementation of current language policies as well as the development of new, state-approved unified textbooks for Russian language and literature, intended for both schools and secondary vocational institutions. The first editions are expected to be introduced on 1 September 2027.
Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov emphasized that the new textbooks are being created through close collaboration between scholars, teachers, and students. He also noted that specialized training programs will be organized to help teachers adapt to the updated materials and teaching approaches.
The meeting additionally covered several cultural and educational initiatives, including the “Native Toy” competition, the “Reading as a Family” video project, and the revival of school literary clubs — of which more than 2,500 have already been established. Officials also announced the upcoming First International Forum of School Librarians, scheduled for December 2025.
All these initiatives are designed to preserve, enrich, and promote the Russian language, reinforcing its cultural and educational role both within the country and internationally.
